KSRA’s goal in teen activities is to assist participants in fostering social friendships and in increasing leisure opportunities in their local community.

T’NT – Life Skills Program

T'NTYEP

Developed by RAMP and funded through YEP (Youth Engaged in Philanthropy) grant by the DeKalb County Community Foundation, this program is for teens and young adults who are transitioning into greater independence. Program Leader: Mike Franckowiak
This program is designed to assist with social skills, use of community resources, leisure education, an increase in recreation & life skills, and social/peer interactions.
Participation Criteria— (Ages 15 and up): Must have a moderate to high level of ability (no 1:1 staff provided)

 

Cooking Class!

Learn to prepare delicious tasting food with a Registered Dietitian at Hy-Vee—Sycamore in their completely accessible teaching kitchen.

This program is designed to assist with social skills, use of community resources, leisure education, an increase in recreation & life skills, and social/peer interactions.

 

Saturday Sports Fundamentals

Learn the rules and how to play different sports in a no-pressure atmosphere. Each week will alternate focus on the different sports of basketball, soccer, and baseball.

This program is designed to assist with increased gross motor skills, social skills, leisure education, recreation participation, learning new and transferable sport skills, an increase in recreation skills, and social/peer interactions.

 

Social Night

This program allows the participating individuals to choose the social activity! While all activities will be done at the facility the options range from movie nights to storytelling. Participants may be dropped off at any time after 6:00 PM but must be picked up by 10:00 PM, making this a perfect program for parents looking for a night out or participants looking for a fun Friday night!

This program is designed to build social skills and self-determination.

 

Music Exploration Mondays

Come make music with us on Mondays! Each class offers a different musical experience, including therapeutic drumming and meditation, eurhythmic exercises and dancing, theater games and improvisation, and musically guided art projects.

This program is designed to assist with social skills, use of community resources, leisure education, an increase in recreation skills, social/peer interactions, gross motor skills, verbal skills, and new and transferable music skills.
